FAQs

Q. WHAT IS emotional TRAUMA AND HOW DOES IT IMPACT YOUR LIFE?

A. Emotional trauma is an emotional response to an event such as an accident, death, sustained stress, abuse or natural disaster. Immediately after the event, it is typical to experience shock and denial. However over time, reactions and symptoms can include:

  • Changeable emotions
  • Flashbacks
  • Strained relationships
  • Physical symptoms such as headaches and nausea
  • Feelings that affect day to day functioning and may prevent you from moving forward in life
  • Internal thoughts ruling your life and you finding yourself spending a lot of time coping with them.

Those closest to you may be unaware of what's happening inside you. You may be searching for answers as to why the emotional traumas that you have experienced are running and ruining your life. Perhaps you are suffering from depression, anxiety, PTSD, panic attacks…not knowing why, but desperately wanting to be free from the awful feelings.

If, this is you then there is hope. The Richards Trauma Process is a cutting edge solution that can assist you in overcoming these challenges quickly and safely, forever, and without drugs or being retraumatised.

Q. HOW DO I KNOW IF TRTP™ CAN HELP ME?

A. For some people a severe traumatic event has taken place in their lives, such as a car accident or death of a loved one, so the level of anxiety or depression is understood and can certainly be helped.

Many others though live with anxiety, panic, depression, PTSD, stress, fears or phobias and do not easily recognise where it originated. They find themselves just getting by in ‘survival mode’ and congratulating themselves on being a ‘survivor’.

Either way, every single human being has the opportunity to leave those shackles behind and enjoy a rich, rewarding life in which they feel fully empowered. This is what TRTP™ can do for you.

Q. HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL IT TAKE?

A. TRTP™ is generally conducted over three sessions. Sessions are about 90 minutes long and are usually about one week apart. It is important that the three sessions are completed once commenced.

Session one: Focuses on changing limiting beliefs about yourself that have embedded in your mind and body from past experiences, which either others have said to you or you say to yourself. Eighty to ninety percent of these beliefs are usually untrue and when we remove or change them in our Sub-conscious, we give ourselves permission to do amazing things!

Session two: Combining Kinesiology, Hypnosis and Choice Therapy, we uproot the most stressful or traumatic events in your life from your Sub-conscious. You don't have to go into the details of these events because we understand this may re-traumatise you. Instead, you take control of the event, the event no longer controls you. This process is done with utmost care and sensitivity in a safe and non-judgmental environment.

Session three: Now totally safe and no longer shackled by the events of your past, we provide you with the tools required to create and live a new, amazing future.

Q. WHY DO YOU USE HYPNOSIS?

A. Because when trauma of any sort occurs, it becomes lodged in the Sub-conscious mind and we can only connect to the Sub-conscious mind through hypnotherapy.

Q. WHAT HAPPENS TO ME DURING HYPNOSIS?

A. This is a process of relaxation likened to daydreaming with your eyes closed. You are still able to scratch you nose if need and you are generally in a very happy and relaxed state when leaving the hypnosis session. It is gentle and yet it is extremely powerful.

Q. DOES TRTP™ WORK FOR EVERYONE?

A. No. A successful outcome is dependent on many elements which include but are not limited to:

  • The willingness of the client to fully engage with the process
  • That the client truly wishes to heal their life
  • The environment that dominates the client’s world. If any client lives in and chooses to remain in a toxic environment, it will significantly reduce the potential for them to make a full successful recovery.
  • The skill level of the practitioner.

Q. WHAT MAKES THIS THERAPY DIFFERENT FROM OTHER MODALITIES?

A. Trauma is not stored in the conscious mind. Trauma is stored in the Sub-conscious mind and in the body (Levine, van der Kolk, Ogden). TRTP works where the trauma is stored, and addresses it there.

TRTP™ also arrests self-sabotage before it begins. Therapeutically, self-sabotage occurs when the Sub-conscious tries to keep a client safe according to its own beliefs, even if they are actually blocking a client's Conscious effort to get well. So TRTP™ addresses this in the first session, by changing unhelpful negative Sub-conscious core beliefs to positive, constructive ones. For example, if the Sub-conscious has the belief, ‘It’s not safe to get well’ – self-sabotage could be the result - and the client could remain unwell. If this Sub-conscious core belief is changed to ‘It’s safe to get well’ – then a positive outcome will be achieved more quickly, without the unconscious attempting to keep you ‘safe’ in unwellness.

Q. DO YOU HAVE EVIDENCE-BASED RESEARCH ON TRTP™?

A. As Norman Doidge, the highly renowned author of The Brain That Changes Itself says, ‘When you’re on the cutting-edge, you don’t have time to sit in research projects for years. You just get on with it, otherwise, you are no longer on the cutting edge.'

TRTP™ is less than five years old. However, its founders have the first research project underway to scientifically validate the efficacy that its 100+ practitioners, including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, doctors and anaesthetists, experience with clients every day. A pilot study is being designed and overseen by members of the TRTP™ graduate community, Dr. Martha Landman, Dr. Jenni Rice and Dr. Rosemary Boon.

Before becoming TRTP™ practitioners, Dr. Martha Landman received an award for her great work coordinating the Mater Hospital PTSD unit in Townsville, Queensland, Dr. Jenni Rice lectured at Melbourne University for many years in research design and Dr. Rosemary Boon is a leader in the area of neuro-feedback.

Q. HOW LONG DOES IT WORK FOR?

A. Practitioners have followed some past clients for over 4 years with continuing positive outcomes.

Q. IS IT ME, OR DOES THIS THERAPY SOUND TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE?!

A. We understand, it does sound too good to be true..! Compared to current mental health practices, such extraordinarily quick and positive outcomes are generally rare. The usual outcome is one of slow, incremental change.

Society seems to have an entrenched view that if a person has been sick for a long time, it will take a long time for them to become well. But what if that’s no longer necessary?

It makes sense that if we want to achieve a faster and better outcome for people suffering from trauma, a different approach must be being used. TRTP™ is an approach that offers something radically different.

Q. CAN I DO THERAPY SESSIONS BY DISTANCE?

A. TRTP™ is very effective via Skype or Zoom calls, which enable the therapist and client to connect anywhere in the world. It is essential for the client to have a headset during the sessions and so they can fully immerse in the experience undisturbed. A phone is not suitable for delivering TRTP™.

We require payment of your preferred option in full by Paypal through this website or by direct bank transfer prior to commencement.

Q. what happens if I need to reschedule?

A. Please contact us if you need to reschedule with at least 24 hours' notice.

Please note: While we are prepared to change appointment times with reasonable notice, as per our Terms of Service, it is essential that Session 1 and Session 2 are completed within one week of each other. Q. What happens if I miss my appointment or I’m late?

A. Please contact us as soon as possible if you know you are running late or have missed an appointment.

A. No refunds are made under any circumstances.

Q. What do I need to do to prepare for a session?

A. Once we've spoken to determine that TRTP is right for you, I will send you a form to fill in as your 'homework' as well as instructions for payment of your sessions. The form must be returned and the payment made at least 48 hours' before your first scheduled appointment, as I then require time to prepare extensively for your session.

The form only requires some very basic information and is designed in a way that will not re-trigger any past traumas. It provides the framework for our sessions together and gives you the opportunity to begin to dream a little and imagine how you really want to your future experience of life to be.

Q. What happens during a session?

A. We use guided hypnosis during our sessions because we are working with your Sub-conscious mind and this is the most effective way of reaching it and achieving our goals. It is a very pleasant and comfortable process in which you remain in control of your body.

Q. How will I feel after a session?

A. Most people feel exhilarated after a session! So much has moved, so many triggers have been removed and now they feel quite empowered. However, if you feel any discomfort, I would ask you to contact me straight away to discuss it.

Many clients have such an amazing response to their first session that they feel as though they've accomplished everything they wanted to achieve - but we have more to do! Be aware, your first session empowers you, your second session removes embedded obstacles and your third session creates your new life. It is imperative you complete all three sessions to gain the full and lasting benefits of TRTP.

Q. What happens if I’m taking medication?

It depends on the medication. I will ask you to provide this information upon application so that we can assess if it's appropriate for you to experience the TRTP process at this time.

Q. Does Penny work with children?

A. Yes, however, it will depend on their age and the circumstances. In many instances it is imperative to work with the parents before working with the child to ensure a truly positive and lasting outcome for all.

Q. what happens to the personal information i provide in my forms?

A. Your personal information will be held in strict confidence between yourself and the therapist. It will never be shared with any third parties unless required by law.
